I am so excited to be returning to the Awtrey team for the third year. I absolutely love this community and couldn't ask for better families, students, and staff. I was formerly Ms. King, and just got married last year to my husband, Drew. Fun fact... my husband is a police officer with the Acworth Police Department and a former graduate of Awtrey!

I graduated from Kennesaw State University with my B.S. in Psychology and a Minor in Leadership Studies. I am passionate and excited to be at a "Leader in Me" school and share my love for leadership with students. I then attended Liberty University for my M.Ed. in School Counseling. My favorite part of this job is meeting all the incredible families and students!

Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions or needs you may have. I appreciate your partnership and trust!

I LEAD at Awtrey by encouraging students to reach their full potential, modeling leadership, and being a safe person for all students.

I joined the Awtrey team in 2022 after working at the district level in both Cobb and Paulding Counties in suicide and bullying prevention. I was an advocate and leader in the community and at the state level for almost 15 years but the one thing I missed the most was working directly with students. My passion for being with middle school students is what brought me here to Awtrey!

I have been a school counselor for 21 years and a Licensed Professional Counselor for over 10 years. I am a trainer for Sources of Strength, Restorative Practices, and the QPR method of suicide prevention.  I am Board Certified in School Crisis Response. I have presented at local, state, and national conferences on suicide and bullying prevention. I enjoy sharing my experiences with colleagues and learning from others too!

If there’s anything at all that I can do to support your student, please reach out to me. I will do everything I can to help our students be successful here at Awtrey. Go Vikings!

How to Make an Appointment with your counselor

Awtrey counselors have offices in the grade level areas where students have the greatest access to services.

  • Students that would like to meet with a counselor may stop by during class change, ask a teacher to email the counselor, or complete a "request to see a counselor" form and leave it in the counselor's box outside of their room.

  • Parents that would like to speak to a counselor may email or call the counselor.  Many times, email is the fastest way to make a connection.
